Terms and Conditions
For driving tuition given by an 1st Time School of Motoring Instructor or franchised instructor
(the Instructor), it is hereby agreed that:
Special offer
1. The five hours for £40 is our Winter introductory offer and consists of 2 x 1.5 hours at the beginning of your lessons and the last 2 hours held on account for the last week before your driving test.
2.Only one five hour introductory offer per person can be purchased.
3.The offer is subject to completing a minimum of five hours in between.
4.If you do not wish to continue your lessons after the first three hours the remainder of the five hours is non refundable.
5.All offers are non refundable unless specified.
6.For the use of this offer the final 2 hours are actually free.
This equates to the first 3 hours valued at £13.33 each hour, the overall offer equates to £8 per hour.
Payments for Lessons
1. All lessons must be paid for in advance.
2. The £40 special offer is payable on first meeting.
On completion of your third hour, the next booked lesson must be paid for in advance.
Main Terms and Conditions
1. The Instructor will provide driving instruction for the pupil at the agreed rates and times.
The cost of driving lessons will have been clearly explained upon first contact with 1st Time School of Motoring and again at the beginning of the first lesson.
2. All 1st Time School of Motoring Driving Instructors will behave in a professional manner towards clients at all times.
The instructor will avoid physical contact with a client except in an emergency or in the normal course of greeting.
Whilst reserving the right to decide against giving tuition, the instructor will not act in any manner which contravenes legislation on discrimination or the Driving Standards
Agency (D.S.A.) Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors.
3. The Instructor reserves the right to substitute another 1st Time School of Motoring Instructor for any of the pupil’s lessons if required,
or rearrange any lessons to a mutually convenient time without liability.
4. All bookings are made on the understanding that the School is not responsible for the postponement of training due to traffic conditions,
adverse weather conditions, illness or mechanical breakdown. 1st Time School of Motoring cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as
a result of the postponement of any lessons, for whatever reason.
5. Any pupil may be refused a driving lesson if the Instructor has reason to believe that the pupil is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
and the lesson will still be charged for at the full amount.
6. The Instructor may refuse to carry on giving a pupil driving lessons without notice if the Instructor is not satisfied with a pupil’s
conduct or commitment throughout the lessons.
A pupil may be refused entry into the driving school vehicle if they are wearing soiled clothing or muddy work boots and the lesson will still be charged for at the full amount.
7. Instructors will advise clients when to apply for their theory and practical driving tests.
The instructor will not cancel or re-arrange a driving test without the client’s agreement.
When presenting a client for the practical driving test, the instructor will ensure that the client has all the necessary documentation to enable the client to take the test and that the vehicle is roadworthy.
8. If a pupil has entered for a driving test and does not keep up to date with their lessons prior to the test, or if in the opinion of
the Instructor the pupil is not safe to proceed with the test, the Instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of the tuition vehicle
for the driving test. In which case the Instructor will not be liable for any loss of test fees.
9. Provided the pupil is in possession of a valid driving license and is accompanied by, or under the direction of a Driving Standards
Agency A.D.I / P.D.I or approved DSA Examiner, all 1st Time School of Motoring cars are fully insured for tuition and driving tests.
10. The instructor will check a client’s entitlement to drive the vehicle and their ability to read a number plate at the statutory
distance of 20.5 metres with the use of glasses or contact lenses if appropriate on the first lesson.
11. The instructor will make every effort to train you to the highest standard but can in no way be held liable for any errors you commit
whilst driving and unaccompanied by your instructor either before, during or after a test pass.
12. The pupil will ensure that they hold the appropriate valid licence to drive the tuition vehicle. 13. Pupils must advise their instructor of any medication or prescription drugs they are taking that may affect their ability to drive
safely before taking any lesson booked.
14. If a pupil is required to wear glasses or contact lenses whilst driving and he/she fails to wear them on a driving lesson, then the
lesson will be cancelled with full charge to the pupil or parents.
15. The pupil will give the Instructor a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or change a lesson for no charge to occur, otherwise the
lesson fee will be payable.
If you fail to turn up for an appointment (Your instructor will wait at the agreed pickup point for 10 minutes only) and no cancellation notice was provided by you to the Instructor before the start of the lesson then the full charge of the lesson will be payable.
If any lessons paid for in advance or with vouchers are cancelled within 48 hours, then the full amount of a lesson will be charged.
16. At the instructor’s discretion, any pupil who cancels lessons on three or more consecutive occasions may lose any future allocated time
slots. This does not apply to any pre-arranged holiday cancellations or postponements.
17. The instructor must be notified of the date and time of a driving test self booked by the pupil at least 10 working days before the test date.
All 1st Time School of Motoring pupils are bound by these terms and conditions.
Driving Lesson Voucher or Block Bookings terms & conditions
1. 1st Time 10 and 20 lesson Block booking vouchers can only be used in association with 1st Time School of Motoring.
Vouchers can only be used once, and must be surrendered at the time of your first lesson. Copies will not be accepted.
2. 1st Time 10 and 20 lesson Block bookings offer a discount on services provided therefore are non-refundable in part, or whole.
3. 1st Time driving lesson vouchers are valid indefinitely. Once surrendered the 10 and 20 lesson Block booking vouchers are intended to be used on a minimum one lesson per week basis.
4. To use the voucher the bearer must hold a valid UK provisional licence (or a valid International licence that enables the bearer to take
lessons in the UK), and this licence must be presented at the time of the first lesson.
5. A voucher does not guarantee that 1st Time School of Motoring will accept the bearer as a pupil.
6. There is a £30 administration charge for any refunds.
Refunds are only payable if you are moving out of the area and are unable to complete your course.
If you have monies owed after having passed your test with 1st Time School of Motoring no administration charge will be made.
7. At our discretion if we feel a refund would be suitable on a 10 or 20 block of lessons all spent lessons would be charged at full rate and not the discounted rate.
This does not include hours left on passing a test, these would be paid on the discounted rate.
8. All refunds will be made by cheque regardless of how payment is made.
Please allow up to 21 days for any refunds.
9.In purchasing or possessing a 1st Time School of Motoring 10 or 20 lesson voucher(s) or block booking, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
10. In the case of Pass Plus once payment has been taken and a start date agreed there can be no refund.
11. By agreeing to have driving lessons with 1st Time School of Motoring it is accepted that you have read and agreed to our terms and conditions. We will not accept, in any situation, that you have not read our terms and conditions.
Complaint or grievances
